Stonelake…At Home With Nature

The Stonelakes National Wildlife Refuge is a 2,500 acre habitat for migrating waterfowl, shorebirds and other water birds.  This refuge is located west of Stonelake, and has plan’s in the future to increase to 18,000 acres.  The refuge was established in 1994, and this refuge has already attracted and educated thousands of visitors. The refuge main job is protecting scarce natural habitats and agricultural resources that are or have been threatened by urban sprawl and agricultural changes. The refuge has seasonal and permanent wetlands, riparian forest and grasslands.  This refuge also contains some of the last fresh water lakes in the central valley.  Many endangered, threatened and special status species benefit from this refuge.  Some of these include the valley elderberry longhorn beetle, Swainson’s hawk and the greater sandhill crane.  Stonelake is currently surrounded on three sides by natural wildlife. 75% of Stonelake’s 1,850 acres will be devoted to open space and natural wildlife. The Stonelake Club

The Club at Stonelake, a private community center available to all residents of the homes within Stonelake. Architecture was inspired by Northern Italian designs.
